Goal 2.2 in our School Improvement Plan is, "Strengthen staff and students' respect, appreciation and celebration of diversity.” One of our benchmarks under this goal is to implement cultural food tastings during the year and combine these events with appropriate literature to spark conversation.
Our first Try It Tuesday was December 17th. Students and staff enjoyed different types of bread including Naan (Indian), Papusas (South American) and Pita (Middle Eastern). Tentatively, here are our plans for the future:
March: Noodles: Spaeztle (German), Udon (Japanese), Orzo (Greek)
May: Rice: Basmati (Indian), Risotto (Italian), Rice & Pigeon Peas (Caribbean)
